Things got a little dry, so Abram did what he had to do. Abram packed up and took his family to Egypt. He told his wife to lie to Pharaoh and got himself into a little trouble while there. And here we find Abram, post-famine. He leaves Egypt and finds himself right back at the very place he left. It is here he is able to call on the name of the Lord. The famine had driven him to Egypt, but he was ultimately led back to the place he started. The name of that place? Bethel, which means “House of God.”
Never let your dry place drive you away from God.
You might find yourself running in circles. You just might find yourself right back at Bethel. Even if you’ve hit a dry place spiritually, find your way to Bethel. Find your way to the house of God. I promise He will fill your cup.
“..to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the Lord” (Genesis 13:4)
