I’m re-reading Tim Keller’s, “The King’s Cross” and came across this quote:
The essence of other religions is advice; Christianity is essentially news. Other religions say, “This is what you have to do in order to connect to God forever; this is how you have to live in order to earn your way to God.” But the gospel says, “This is what has been done in history. This is how Jesus lived and died to earn the way to God for you.” Christianity is completely different. It’s joyful news.
I wonder what it would be like if more Christians lived this truth. I can’t earn my way to God, that’s already been done. The essence of the gospel’s message. We tend to get so bogged down in theology and doctrine that we forget that simple truth.
Question: How do you proclaim the Gospel to others who may not believe? What do you tell people distinguishes your faith from all others?
