When it comes to sin, like a criminal with insurmountable evidence against him, whether we believe it or not, our lives plead guilty.

Jesus isn’t the Great Public Defender. He doesn’t come in to plead our case or vouch for our goodness. No, he walks in, stands boldly before the accuser and takes our place. Give me their guilt. Give me their shame. He is the substitute teacher who gets ridiculed, mocked, and disrespected by selfish, immature students. The great white elephant exchange–our sin for His righteousness. Taking our filthy rags in exchange for His seamless garment of righteousness. How dare we neglect such a great gift. Cherish Him. Worship Him. Adore Him.
